C2) 31/8/09: Ombudsman denies investigation of the President.
The Office of the Ombudsman wishes to refute both the headline and content of a recent media report entitled "Ombudsman to investigate the President" that appeared in the 30/8/09 edition of the Sunday Standard newspaper.
The allegation contained in the said article that the Ombudsman is investigating the President on abuse of state media is false as no such investigation is being undertaken.
This Office wishes to further state that at no stage did we say or suggest to the said newspaper or any other publication that we are investigating the President. - M.S. Malate, Public Relations Officer
