C4) 27/4/09: Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister visits Botswana

The Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of The People's Republic of China, Mr. Zhan Jun is in Botswana for a two day official visit. The purpose of the visit is to further strengthen the friendly bilateral relations that exist between Botswana and China.

Assistant Minister Zhai Jun met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Honourable P.T.C Skelemani and discussed issues of bilateral relations between Botswana and the People's Republic of China. Minister Skelemani and Assistant Minister Zhai Jun signed an agreement of P1.6 million development assistance offered by the Government of the People's Republic of China to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

Assistant Minister Zhai also paid courtesy calls on His Excellency the President Lieutenant General Seretse Khama Ian Khama and His Honour the Vice President Lieutenant General Mompati Merafhe.

Assistant Minister Zhai Jun and his delegation will leave Botswana tomorrow on the 28 April 2009.
