C5) 24/4/09: MOFAIC - Botswana Condemns Assassination Attempt on Lesotho Prime Minister

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Botswana condemns in the strongest terms the assassination attempt on the Prime Minister of Lesotho, Mr. Bethuel Pakalitha Mosisili on 22 April 2009.

The attempt on Hon. Mosisili's life is an affront to democracy and can only serve to undermine the rule of law.

Botswana also condemns the use of mercenaries in all forms and manifestations aimed at changing the constitutional order. Those who masterminded this heinous crime must face the full wrath of the law.

The Government of Botswana commends the security forces of the Kingdom of Lesotho for apprehending some of the perpetrators. No effort should be spared in bringing to justice all the criminals involved.
